Re: RAD Flag

Hello Mike, It is indeed a flag of the RADwJ - the Reichsarbeitsdienst für die weibliche Jugend (Women's Labor Service). It's not that uncommon to see them for sale, though I'm not familiar with the sewing you speak of; usually they're simply one piece, with the central design printed. I've posted a...

Hello Troy, I'm a great fan of the WHW too, and a longtime reader of Stoddard as well. More great horse photos, Raúl!

And Klaus, I LOVE this picture. My caption for it would be Hi. We can be VERY friendly... Especially since it's the view you'd have if one of them had just chucked you off over his head!

Best regards,

Re: Ski boots...axis or allied???

Are the extra buckle straps across the top of the instep military? Years ago, I had an old pair of (what, as far as I knew were) women's civilian ski boots with a similar strap for support. They also had the lacing hooks instead of grommets up the top part of the closure.

Re: Ski boots...axis or allied???

Hello someone, I'm not sure what the boots you bought are --Allied, civilian, or postwar. But the overall shape (more squared toe) and upper construction are different from a pair of WWII German Bergschuhe I've posted photos of below, along with the left and right elastic wool wraps. Notice also the...

Re: Axis History Forum problems?

The fire was in a datacenter that hosts (among many others) the AHF server, and caused a power failure there. They are working hard at getting the power and network connections back up, at which point they'll start powering up the servers. Most importantly, none of the servers, including AHF's, were...

A quick update: They're taking it site by site, and as of yesterday (22 Feb), the Axis History Factbook is back on line. Hopefully the other sites won't be far behind, but no timetable yet.

PK
Actually, the more common terms (since common terms are being used) were Felddecke (Field blanket) or Feldmatratze (Field mattress).

(Emphasis added:) Bravo! And the names should be verifiable. In fact, why not introduce a nominal fee system requiring payment by credit card? Five or ten bucks a year to belong. That's the price of a couple of beers. And the software would verify the registrant's details. That will separate the whe...

TOM!!! You're his co-moderator, and, I think, his friend. I'm surprised you'd suggest inflicting that on him....even on the Commissar!

What? What???!!! I was only quoting the Commissar's own words: So the Commissar, unable for the moment to get his pen up to write more. takes a brief break from the action, hoping that his readership will understand his momentary weakness..... I'd like to claim myself innocent of any innuendo here. ...
