Lennart Westberg,Martin Mansson, and Geir Brenden are well known researchers of the Battles of III SS Panzer Korps and their battles on the Eastern Front and two of them authored the excellent SS Panzer Aufklarungs Abt 11 Nordland , i expect that this new book despite the title will enhance Tieke's ...

As a Student / researcher and Tour Guide of the Narva Battles in Estonia i was hoping this book would contain new information on the early 1944 Strachwitz Battles and the Panzer Graf himself however i was severely disappointed !! A regurgitation of old info , some of which is incorrect , nothing new...

Yes this news is confirmed , he was the last man of SS Obersturmbannfuhrer rank and Officer of Divisional Command lever still alive,

I have been informed that sadly former SS Obersturmbannfuhrer and DKiG Winner Hubert Meyer has passed away on 16th November 2012 .

Just to let everone know that member here Berlin , former member of 4 Kompanie LSSAH Erwin Bartmann passed away on 14/10/2012.

I was fortunate to visit him on a number of occasions to discuss his life,

RIP Erwin.

Many thanks for the update and map , Dick Annand was a friend of mine but we never knew exactly which German unit he was fighting when he won his VC , you have answered the question so many thanks indeed !!

Many thanks for that information , does the book have any more details about the action fought there ?

It is of particular interest as it was this action that led to the award of the first Victoria Cross to a British army soldier during WW2 !!

Thanks for posting , do you know if it was the 18 ID that forced the crossing over the River Dyle at Gastouche on 15th May 1940 , whilst fighting against the 2nd Bn Durham Light Infantry ?
