Re: Johannes Kummel

Dale, can do, but what I forgot to ask you is the date of all this, maybe that will help me as he left Africa in late summer 42 and was posted back to Stuttgart area to PzrErz7.

Grenadier to Panzergrenadier date

Hello All, I know I have it somewhere, but cannot locate it at this time, so does anyone have the date when grenadier regiments were renamed panzergrenadier regiment? This is refering to those formations in a panzergrenadier division.

thanks

Re: Johannes Kummel

Dale, been away from the forum for awhile and just noticed you post. Unfortunately, I am away from my info and pictures at this time, but to the best of my knowledge Kummel never served with any heavy units during his time. He started with PzrRgt 8 (39-43) and ended in Italy with, I believe PzRgt 26...

Gary, thanks very much, just what I was looking for. Will bounce it off what I have and take the average to get my numbers.

Thanks again

Re: Panzer Abteilung manning numbers 1943/44

Gary, sorry about that. Its for a panzer assault gun bn, specifically Panzer Abteilung 8 assigned to the 20th Panzergrenadier Division. They had Stug IIIs from Oct 43 until Jan 45 when they lost them all in Poland. They were re-issued with a mixed bag of MkIVs and MkIV70V in March 45. Looking for th...

Panzer Abteilung manning numbers 1943/44

Hello All, I am looking for some strenght numbers for a panzer battalion (abt) during the period late 1943 to 45. standard numbers will do as I understand the battalions would have undergone numerous changes during that timeframe. Looking for any positions, overall numbers for officers and men and v...

OA ROA ROB

Hello all and hope your holidays were good ones. I am just doing a bit of research and came across the following that I need some help in defining and getting the German wording for; OA ROA both OA and ROA refer to getting new personnel assigned to the unit. ROA, could it be Vlassov's army? ROB (som...

Re: The memories of KC-holder Max Georg Bose

Hi all, my apologies, I have been away from the sight for far too long. In reference to Georg Bose's book, he has published 4 books: Parts 1,2 & 3 of his war experiences in addition to the history of StugAbt 177. We have been working on translating Part II of his war experiences into American En...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Kevin Fish

Thanks for the update John. Well it seems that there has been little interest in this book on the forum. That being said, the current economic situation certainly has not helped with the sale of a costly book. (Best bargain is thru Amazon) I have received a few emails over the past year and have got...

Re: Zwolfender

Thanks guys, yes that sounds about right. The leutnant was an old veteran of the regiment who had been a Oberfeldwebel in Africa and was now a Lt in the training detachment. Looks like he must have had his 12 years and since he had a lot of experience they commissioned him to the rank of Lt. Thanks ...

Zwolfender

I understand the term Zolfender to mean 12 point buck/deer/hirsch

But how so when applied to the name of a person, the guy mentioned in the text was a former NCO who was now a Leutnant. Does this mean he was a Mustang officer of some type.

Thanks

sPzAbt 531??

I have just been reading Panzer Operations by General Raus, the commander of the 1st Panzer Armee assigned to Heeresgruppe Nord Ukraine in July 1944 in and around the cities of Brody and Lvov. In his book, Raus mentions that the panzer army had in reserve; the 1st and 8th Panzer Divisions and Heavy ...

Re: North Africa 1941-42 first-hand accounts

Richard, send me some more info on what exactly your looking for; certain battles, infantry, panzer truppen accounts etc, I have a three part article written by one of the Veterans from Panzer Regt 8. The article went unpublished for years, until the association published it just a few years ago. It...
