Hi, well, just off the top of my head I can say that LVII Panzerkorp was on the receiving end of the Soviet "Little Saturn" offensive from 12/15/42 into the next year.
Okay, thanks to a link on another forum, I found this:
1. 35th I.D.-- issued 10 StuG IVs in May 1944
2. 36th I.D.--issued 10 StuG IVs in April 1944
3. 45th I.D.--issued 10 StuG IVs in May 1944
4. 134 I.D.--issued 10 StuG IVs in April 1944
Hi Folks, I know that the following StuG units were attached to Army Group Center during the overwhelming Russian Offensive in late June, 1944: StuG Brigades: 1. 177th 2. 185th 3. 189th 4. 190th 5. 244th 6. 245th 7. 281st 8. 901st And Sturmartillerie Brigade 667. Does anyone have any additions or su...
Hi, I'm looking into German defensive measures before the Soviets launched "Operation Bagration" against Army Group Center. Can anyone give me any information on the composition of any of the Panzerjager Companies of the following Infantry Divisions in the 9th Army : 1. 6th Infantry Division 2. 35th...
Hi, there is a question about the von Gottberg group in the Bagration Battle near Minsk. My one source about this is Hinze's "East Front Drama" which is not known for its ease of reading. Clearly there was a "Von Gottberg" force, it is listed as containing a number of polizei regiments, but not the ...
Thanks Jerry! Remember, the Commissar is convinced that, when it comes to retreived WWII documents, there are only two types: barely readable and unreadable. Happiy this observation is a product of the Commisar's post-radiated brain and what you posted is excellent. Anyway, "Gruppe Michalak" appears...
Hi Folks, I think this Board should try to tackle one of the most enduring mysteries of the Panzerwafffe: The short but exciting life of the 27th Panzer Division. Some reference books don't even list it as a Panzer Division. So, any and all contributions are welcomed, no matter how small or insignif...
Thank you very, very much Hans! :D :D :D :D You've explained it so well that even I can understand it. :D I would have put this question on the 234 thread we worked on some time ago, but I didn't feel it would attract as much attention there. You did wonderfully on that thread and I think the only t...
Thanks Tanker Mike--it seems to confirm exactly what Richard wrote. This really helps and it is a point that I really can't afford to be wrong on, as I need to know for a writing project.
Best,
David
HI Richard, that helps very much! The odd number of vehicles in the 3rd Platoon accounts for the number 16, which really puzzled me, as the Abteilung Commander and Kompanie Commander would seen to have to have their own vehicles.
HI, I understand from Jentz's "Museum Ordnance Special Number 24" That the April 1944 K.St.N. 1109 (f.G.) provided for a Stabs und Stabskompanie Panzer-Aufklarung Abteilung containing 16 234 series vehicles. Originally, what was envisioned was 13 Sd. Kfz. 234/1 and 3 Sd.Kfz. 234/3. But instead, the ...
