The Hindenburg stamps are regular 'Reichspost' postal stamps, the main regular issue until replaced by the Hitler head in 1941. The Swastika 'Dienstmarke' stamps are 'officials' used by government agencies. Usually the envelope they are on will have also the circle seal showing which government agen...

Same theme, but even more stupid--but determined, I'll give him that much.

In the book "Berlin, Dance of Death" the author mentions getting paid in Berlin in late April of 1945--he mentions that he got his pay in brand new crisp 20 RM notes.

There are many, many of them out there already in use by reenactors etc. The reproductions are readily available for sale with just about any unit etc. you may care to have. Originals are obviously very rare and costly, most of what you see out there on eBay and such are fakes, but occasionally at b...

In both the Third Reich and the ancient coins I would suggest the same thing; go to a library and browse the appropriate coin books. Even an out of date one will give comparitive values--if a certain one is lised at ten times what most of the others are, you want to save that one out until an expert...

The design certainly looks right, but the problem is that one needs to look very closely to discern fakes of this type. At first glance, and what one can see from a scan, it looks good, but with using a loup perhaps some things might show up at very close range (laser printing etc.). I haven't seen ...

I have a very few bills, but don't really collect them. I only answer because no one else has.

The way to tell generally if notes are real is the way you would any banknotes. Take a jeweler's loup and examine the engraving; are the little lines neat and crisp? One of the common ways bills are reproduced these days (for reenactments and such) is by laser print. You will see tiny parallel lines...

Unfortunately not, I have no scanner or camera capabilities. However it really doesn't take a photo to envision in that it is the typical zinc wartime design, only with a copper plating (not postwar) on it. I know it's 'clad' because zinc corrosion has exploded through the copper in places...other t...

I've heard the 'bad' things about those Sportsman Guide uniforms, but decided to get one anyway for a 'street wearing' jacket (stripped) because they were so cheap. Well, when I got the thing I was staggered--I pulled some nice original M-36 tunics from my collection and layed them side by side. Tho...

I did have one other thing to ask, are those repo wallets you see at various places correct? Thanks If you mean those bi-fold ones with a latched pocket, and another pocket for the 'Papers' on one side, --and on the other side have several pockets with two small ones on top for tickets or postage s...

This may not be the place to post this, but at a show a couple years ago I happened to buy a whole bag of Feldpost letters! I picked out all the WWII ones (there were hundreds!), and am now left with a couple hundred WWI Feldpost letters. I don't want them...does anyone?

Unusual coin?

I have a coin that I've never heard of--have showed it to several collector/dealers...they all agree it's genuine, but outside that it must be some kind of transition piece??? I'm wondering if anyone here has heard of such a thing. It is a 1940 1 Pfennig piece of the wartime pattern with the Berlin ...
