"Working groups" would probably be a good idea. I wonder if we can manage that level of cooperation and coordination? I don't think I made myself clear yesterday... When I said "a working group" I meant a group of researchers working on one and the same subject. After they would...

About these articles: In my opinion it would be better, safer, faster and more interesting if "working groups" would have been formed.

The assasins of Engelbert Dollfuss in Vienna 1934

Hi! I am having a rather urgent request. I am looking for the names of eight Austrian Nazi assassins who entered the Chancellery building on 25th July 1934 and shot Dollfuss in an attempted coup d'état. I have so far found only the names of three alleged assassins and namely a chap named FRANZ HOLZW...

The Republican invasion of northern Spain was apparently intimately connected with Spanish Rebublican service in the French resistance. The central cadre and weaponry consisted of men and equipment that had reportedly served in the French resistance but were released once the Germans had been drive...

I am afraid Enrico but without knowing more details this is indeed a "mission impossible". Have you perhaps tried to consult the COPAC online searchable database? I have put Royal Navy in World War II in the title box and got the following hits: 1. The Royal Navy in World War II : an annot...

Any Latvians here?

Do we have any Latvians here? I am having a question or two about Latvians in the French Army in WW2, especially in Indochina. I have been told that a book has been published about them some time ago in Latvia. Anyone could help me on this?

Does the book make any mention of the invasion of northern Spain by about 15,000 Republicans in the winter of 1944-45? If I remember correctly they hoped to seize a liberated area, set up a government, get UN (then essentially Allied) recognition and thereafter overthrow Franco. I don't know Sid. I...

Not a damn thing. Just letting you know that you weren't being ignored...
No need to play "Mother Theresa" with me.
... and hoping to "prime the pump" and get some dialog going.
That would be something new.

I read in a book about the US A/B that Americans who had fought on the Republican side as volunteers / mercs (take your pick) had trouble getting rank because they were classified as "prematurely anti-fascist." I wonder if we later had a classification of "prematurely anti-communist?...

Spanish Republicans in World War II

I was just informed about a new book that has come out a year ago which is specially dedicated to the Spanish Republicans in World War II, so I was wondering if anyone has already laid his hands on this book and read it. The title of the book is: Eduardo Pons Prades : " Los Republicanos español...

Don't have anything new to add but I would just like to congratulate Michal on setting up a wonderful website about Czechoslovakian Units in USSR 1942-45. I'm looking forward to new updates. I didn't know that Czech MoD has finally made a website about Czech War Archives (VUA). How large is i...
