Kradführer issued or carrying pistol as sidearm?

Don't think I ever have seen a picture of a Wehrmacht motorcycle driver with a pistol as a sidearm.
Seems it would be important to have a sidearm considering the time it would take to remove a slung K98k if under attack while riding.

Re: Nationality of WaffenSS soldier (pic)

The weapon is definitely a Tokarev SVT40.

Nationality of WaffenSS soldier (pic)

Anyone can tell from what country this soldier is? I notice a shield on the shoulder boards. Can't tell what it is.

I can shoot my AK (Chi-Com Type 56-1) full-auto without earplugs, but the PPSh actually is painful, cannot shoot even one round without it hurting. Back in the "old days", hearing protection wasn't stressed. The only time I remember using cotton or .45 shells stuck in the ears, was my firs...

Dragunov writes: "hmm, i was wondering how them troops could shoot when them firearms were sooo loud."

That's why you see so many of the old Russian vets with hearing aids in both ears. :D

muzzle blast

If you think the muzzle blast of a SVT 40 is bad, try being next to a M/N M44 carbine or... a PPSh-41 with no hearing protection. The PPSh is really painful to the ears. I can shoot a SVT 40 with no muffs (not recommended or fun), but I will not shoot my PPSh without them. Did that once, and never a...

AVT 40

Mightythor99, SVT 38 was not made into select fire. There was no AVT 38s- at least none of which I am aware. All the reference books I have read concerning the SVT series, English and German, state the SVT 40 was made into select fire, called AVT 40. Not a successful weapon in full-auto- would not h...

SVT 40

"and ironically it was the SVT- snaiperskaya vintovka tokareva (tokarev SNIPER RIFLE)"

Not correct. SVT= Samozaryadnaya Vintovka Tokareva - (Tokarev Self-loading rifle)

"but most studies say that the svt's accuracy was pitiful." I would put more faith in what individuals, who used the SVT in combat said, than in "most studies". I have and shoot two SVTs. They are not as accurate as my M39 by any means, but definitely group good enough at 100 yds...

"...its rate of fire", "...massive vertical dispersion" SVT40 was a semi automatic. Don't believe "vertical dispersion" is an applicable term for a semi auto. The AVT40 was the full-auto version. It was not a success. Not many were made. It was not very durable and like...
