Re: Stalingrad - House of Specialists
In David Glantz's "Armageddon in Stalingrad", page 121, he writes: When Rodimtsev's rifle division crossed the river, with its artillery firing in support from the river's eastern bank, the 6,000 men of its 39th and 42nd Guards Rifle Regiments, commanded by Majors S. S. Dolgov and I. P. El...

Re: Stalingrad - House of Specialists
We can compare this map: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stalingrad-Mitte.png to this aerial photograph: http://www.wwii-photos-maps.com/stalingradaerialscans/GX1137SG/slides/GX1137SG-047.html The guy who made the Wikimedia map seems to imply that it's just the one building. Perhaps you could...

Abbreviation in German Strength Report
Just a small entry from a 1942 infantry divisional strength report:
"8 m. Pak, 10 s. Pak"
My guess is "8 medium anti-tank and 10 small anti-tank guns."
Is my guess correct?

1941 Eastern Front divisions not in initial invasion?
Beginner research question. I was wondering how I would go about compiling a list of Heer and Waffen-SS divisions that were involved in the Eastern Front battles in 1941 but were not involved in the initial Barbarossa invasion in June 1941. It's not just a list of unit names I want, but also when an...

Re: June 22nd, 1941, Eastern Front Map (whoah)
Just a small preview:
Along the sides of the main map it contains an order of battle down to division level, with estimates of troop strengths.

June 22nd, 1941, Eastern Front Map (whoah)
Maybe some of you have already seen this map, but for those who haven't: http://www.armchairgeneral.com/rkkaww2/maps/other/Location_June_22_41.jpg (WARNING: 35 MB, 7580 x 10431 pixels) Looks like someone's hobby project. Very impressive at first glance, but I'm not qualified to comment on its accura...

Re: Are you a wargamer?
It's not easy getting an AI done, especially for a game that is not centred on a particular battle or scenario. I hope they can succeed.

Re: W@W/V4V
The most probable sucessor is Combined Arms from Matrix games. It has the same sort of simultaneous plot system (its in testing) Heheh, you posted this almost 3 years ago, and Combined Arms is still in development. If I'm lucky I'll be in a nursing home by the time it gets released. At least then I...

Re: Need a good PC wargame
The best operational series of wargames is the World@War series (Operation Crusader, Stalingrad, D-Day Operation Overlord) and its predecessor, the V4Victory series (Velikiye Luki, Utah Beach, Market Garden, and another one I can't remember). But this is an old series of games, DOS games, and you wi...

Re: Veggies
I'll eat a veggie sausage any day over ground up saw dust and pigs lips. Yeah, but ground-up sawdust and pig's lips tastes better. Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon? Lisa: No. Homer: Ham? Lisa: No! Homer: Pork chops? Lisa: Dad, those all come from th...
