yeah I've seen Europa Europa its definatley a very interestingley shot film still and all I did'nt think it was really all that bad. I've always found the Novel of catch 22 to be far superior to the film sadly, I just don't think they can carry off the humour quite as sucessfully on film :(

Praise For 'The Pianist'

I have just had the good fortune to watch the film 'the pianist' I thought it was absolutley fantastic poignant and disturbing in parts, I think the lead actor encapsulates the privations of his charector incredibley well. I had heard that was based on a real story, is this true? and if so does any ...

I'm really happy that this post is attracting more responses still, but to be quite honest at this juncture in time i feel it would be prudent to resist the temptation to point out americas flaws particularily as the american army is busy sacrificing thier young men in fallujah, It seems that howeve...

Yes freqauntly :( although i'm sure it was more often used as an idle threat really. as the war dragged on and man power in the east became more and more scarce, it was often put into practice. especially for the more recalcitrant among the heer and SS. all in all though it would be an altogether ba...

Actually I've always been very interested to know if the Germans have any equivalent organisations. It seems to me (and I could be wrong :?: ) that the November 11th celebrations seem to be very much the reserve of the allied nations and not so much the 'defeated' however I have seen lots of war mem...

okay thanks lads thats much clearer (just about!) I had no idea there were so many different types of police units inside the reich at that time. Herr Doktor was right though the main emphasis in this book is the 'security' operations that op battalian 101 took part in. The book by the way is entitl...

actually your not wrong there if I remember rightly the man himself was more terrified by bomber formations than fighters for the very good reason that the bombers were heavily laden with defensive armaments. in fact he often laments this fact whilst describing engaging bombers over germany. :D Pers...
