Thanks for your kind words, Paddy. In fact, my research aims to be a small contribution to the "Fallschirmjäger research world". There are just few books which try to take the "Skorzeny myth" to pieces, so to say. In my humble opinion, the Gran Sasso operation showed some feature...

Many thanks for your wishes and support. After the terrible images and events lived yesterday, I feel a deep desolation... This is just the aim of the terrorism: to demoralize us. Our democratic societies must keep on defending by democratic means those great conquers called HUMAN RIGHTS. But don't ...

Hi Darin:
As far as I know, when 2FJD left Italy for Russia, I./FJR.7 remained behind and became I./Fallschirm-Jäger-Lehr-Regiment 21, and a new I./FJR.7 was formed from I./FJR.6.
Regards.

Hi, Wonbat: I think you are right. The bridge, the church... are the main clues. On the other hand, several FJs units fought around that area. So, it has logic: 3FJD saw some action in Arnhem, known as "Kampfgruppe Becker". Division Erdmann (later 7FJD) operated in this area too - formed f...

Thanks for the info, Wonbat. As for pics 17 to 19 supposed to have been taken at Arnhem, may I ask you what is the basis of your info?
Thanks in advance. Óscar

Hi, AHK: As far as I know, no 13. FJD was ever formed. Furthermore, we have to bear in mind that these divisions created at the end of the war 1945 (10. 11. 20. 21. FJD, taken as examples) hardly can be called in such a way. I mean, "divisional status" was given on paper to small battle-gr...

Hi Michi: First of all, I have to admit that you have checked good sources. It seems to be that by late 44 and 45, FJDs were FJ by name only, since most of these new raised divisions were completed from cadres of Luftwaffe Feld Divisionen. Difficults like manpower shortages, the war situation and, i...

Fallschirm-Jäger-Division ******************************** Commanded by Oberst Walter Gericke, 3.45 - 4.45 It was formed on March 45 in Linz area. Infanterie Regiment 419

Hi everyone: I would like to know the order of battle of this unit. I received a few days ago a case belonging to a german officer: Leutnant Mattern. On that case was stamped this inscription: Infanterie Regt. 419 (...the "9" is hardly seen...) 2. Masch-Gew-Komp. 34. Leutnant Mattern Any c...

I mean, the complete operation at that moment was over. Postponements and eventual cancellation of this operation made further planes become "academic suggestions". Hitler wasn´t able to take control of the air, and consequently the landind never happened. Furthermore, his new "goals&...
