Revell Bf 109 G-10 - what pilot?
Hello! I'm building the Revell Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10 on the 1/72 scale. However, I would like to know to which pilot this particular aircraft belonged. It has the number "22" in RED written on it. It flew with IV./JG 27 and it is dated early 1945 and flew near Berlin. Could anyone plea...

SS Panzer Regiment 10
Did this regiment fight in Arnhem, although it was part of the 10th SS Panzer Division Frundsberg, which mainly took part in the action in and around Nijmegen??

Re: Sid ....
GERMANS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR NAZI CRIMES. THE NAZIS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR NAZI CRIMES. They do not represent Germany any more than a murderer in a German prison does. Germany stands alone having nothing to do with the Nazis. I hope I don't have to remind you that the Nazi's got their biggest suppo...

One more thing about the movie, which is really a stretch, is the soldier played by Mark Hamill. The sole purpose of this guy was to reflect the trauma of finding the concentration camp. If you recall, he never fire a shot since his first action in Africa, you can not trust your life to a guy who i...

I think the claim for compensation for innocent Germans is a bit late. It's almost 60 years after the war ended. It just doesn't fit in today's politics any more. Especially if you look at the growing unification of Europe. This claim will only cause trouble within this fragile union of European sta...

My interest for World War II started with when I was a young lad and saw The Longest Day for the first time. I wanted to know why these men were fighting each other etc. etc. My interest in World War II is quite broad, but I tend to give extra attention when it comes to the Netherlands. Further inte...

Question about marking on PzKpfw III Ausf. M
I just finished building a 1/72-scale PzKpfw III Ausf. M and I noticed that one of the decals were two letters "Op" --> what does that mean? I had to place the letters on the side armor of the tank in front of the tracks... http://www.revell.de/katalog/400/03117.JPG This is a picture from ...

The most beautiful about the books written by Cornelius Ryan is that you can really sense what Eisenhower or Heinrici must be feeling. Ryan can create an atmosphere where you can place yourself in, say, Heinrici. His books show that important persons where just persons... The Last Battle is definite...

Guderian vs. Hitler
This I read in Cornelius Ryan's The Last Battle, about the failed relief attempt on Kustrin in March 1945: There was a moment of silence. Then Guderian began to speak quietly. "I Have already explained to you..." Hitler waving his arm, cut him off. "Explanations! Excuses! That's all y...

The British had been in the war since September 1939. British forces fought in Norway, France, the Atlantic, above Britain, North Africa et cetera. The USA didn't join the war until December 1941 (it's first action in Europe/North Africa being Operation Torch in November 1942). So the British being ...
