David, The above link has no mention of the 17th Bty, just the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Btys. Looks like the regiment was with the 7th Arm Div from May 41 till the time it was at Gazala when it was replaced by the 15th LAA Regt, after that it was moved back to the rear in the Canal Zone. David do have anyth...

Same website but on a different page you will find this: http://www.ian.a.paterson.btinternet.co.uk/orgartillery.htm#LAA1 This confirms the unit arrived in the ME on 9 May 1941. I am glad we have another confirmation other ...

David,

Nothing in my notes from Playfair.

CNA agreed with your date of May 41, where did you get your info from?

David,

The old SPI board wargame Campaign for North Africa has this unit arriving the first week of May 1941. I will look through my notes I took from Playfair to see if I can find anything else on this.

Best Regards,

David, Had you ever heard of the 5th SA Armored Car Regiment? At the ancestory24.co.za website link above I also found the following: BOLAND, Regiment Regiment established under the name Regiment Westelike Provinsie in 1934 as one of eight new Afrikaans-medium units of the Active Citizen Force, with...

David,

I might have something in my notes from Playfair or some other sources, these are handwritten notes and no index, what is the earliest confirmed date/location you show them equipped with 6lb guns?

Thanks

David, I have been looking on and off for this since you posted it. I finally think I found something. Looks like the date you have could be correct. Look at this link: http://www.ancestry24.co.za/Ancestry24.aspx?page=content/learningcentre/military It says that the 6th SA Arm Car Reg was formed in ...

Martins, Glad I could be of help. I was so disapointed when I saw that there were pages and pages of info on the 352nd VGD but only a very few on your fathers division, but it was pure luck that the only info and account was from an individual in your fathers regiment. I will see what else I can com...

Martins, There was a two volume set of books dealing with the Battle of the Bulge in the Lux/Bel area only. One from the Allied and one from the German perspective. I have the book covering the German side. I will look for this, may take me a few days to find it. It did give a very good account of t...
