Re: Glogau Military School Tragedy

Errata - Oberst Reichardt died/was MIA in Kreischau [nsau] near Steinau while separated from the greater part of his Kgr. Steinau.

In the town itself there was a Volkssturm unit from Steinau as vell, but they had no weapons, so on the very first day they simply ran for their lives.

Re: Glogau Military School Tragedy

Hi there, I am a bit of interested in Steinau and Wohlau 1945. There WERE actually some troops from Glogau engaged at Steinau (fightings: 23.1.1945 - 4.2.1945), but they were the pioneers (elements of Pio.-E+A Batl. 213, i.e. ROB-Lehrgang/Obltn. Thomas; see: http://glogauerheimatbund.de/pages/NGA-Ar...

l. Art Ers Abt 215

Hallo,

I would be thankful for any information about the leichte Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 215 in January and February 1945 in Breslau area (Silesia). The information found on google etc. are unfortunatelly laconic.

With regards

Pionier-Sturmboot-Kompanie 906. (lt.)

Hello, I'd be deeply grateful for ANY information about the leichte Pionier Sturmboot Kompanie 906. , led by Oberleutnant Roehrig, which took part in the Sonderunternehmen Dyhernfurth - an local attack led by Kampfgruppe Sachsenheimer on 5 February 1945 in order to recapture a town named Dyhernfurth...

Pirx, thanks for your post - one doesn't have to be my compatriot to claim that crediting Warsaw Ghetto Uprising as a polish venture is not a bit of stretch. It was the polish capital city that was loosing it's sons, no matter who they were - Jewis or ethnic Poles. WE used to be ONE country (I do no...

Despite the fact that I do not like Israel's politics and Zionism, I shall NEVER forget those Polish Jews that were fighting for the HUMANITY, for the chance to die proudly, as fighters.

These handfull fought mainly under Polish Banner, brave they were to rise up.

Zipfel, Where did you find this map? It's pretty goog. It shows that your grandfathers bataillon withdrew from Wohlau and crossed the Oder River in Dyhenrfurth (Brzeg Dolny). I do not want to be unkind, but it's quite possible, that your grandfather was escorting K. L. Dyhernfurth I and II prisoners...

Zipfel, Your grandfather fell between Nieder MEHLTHEUER (not Niedermeldener - there was no village named like that) and RIEGERSDORF in Kreis Strehlen. This area saw heavy fightings in March 1945 - the battle of Strehlen. So - he is buried somewhere beetwen villages JEGŁOWA and GOŚCIĘCICE in POWIAT S...

Hi, It took them (the WAST) over 6 months to send some datas about my grandpa's brother to Poland. The fee was only 0,5 € a page. What I was given are Xerox copies of: 1. Wehrpass with full service description 2. Letter from his wife to Detmold war office 3. A map where the place of his death is hig...
