One A7V in Muenster, DE

There is an A7V at the Panzermuseum in Muenster, Germany. It was named "Wotan." Not sure of its history. It is something to see in the steel. Amazing the thing ever moved.

General WW One German or AH Histories

Hello All, For a long time I've searched for a good introduction to the World War One German experience and to that of Austria-Hungary as well. Does anyone know a good book or two that will covers these areas? While we're at it, anyone know any general intros to Italy during the Great War? Thanks in...

Thanks for reply!

Wow, I had totally forgotten about this post. Thanks for the reply. Yeah, you're very right about the look. I just had one move onto my street. Having the cruiser parked out on the street is sure to scare some of my rougher neighbors into at least acting like good citizens. I don't think the look ca...

A Refurbished Jagdpanther

Hello Feldgrau Community, A couple of years ago I read a thread here saying that somewhere in Germany a Jagdpanther was being restored to working condition and that it was going to be fired and everything once ready. The person posting that info also said he'd heard the engine running on an mpeg fil...

the Forgotten Battle: Overloon and the Maas Salient

Has anyone read this one by A. Korthals Altes and NKCA In't Veld? I picked it up at Borders for less than ten dollars. I've thumbed through it some and it appears to be pretty good.
Any comments or complaints? Thanks, Mike

Armageddon: The Battle for Germany 1944-1945

Hi Folks, Is this book by Max Hastings any good? A long time ago I read one by him covering the Korean War and I recall enjoying it. Specifically, does this devote some attention to the Nordwind offensive in JAN 1945? If so, is it insightful enough to be worth getting just for that purpose? Anything...

Unternehmen Nordwind: Need Help

Hi Everyone, Been a while since I last looked through the site. I am a college student and for my Historiography class I will have to pick a subject. I was considering the Waffen-SS, but as I live in the unfortunately liberal NE U.S. my fellow students would probably not understand a military analys...

Please Shed Light On Bautzen & Gorlitz

Herr Halder, Please cover Schlesien in '45. I want to know about Festung Bautzen and the fall of Gorlitz. I was in the area in 2001 and in Gorlitz there was still the remains of a destroyed bridge on the Oder. The last battles of the Reich have always interested me. Good Luck! I'll be the second to ...

Panzerjaeger: Tank Hunter by William B. Folkestad

Hello,
Has anyone read this book yet, which covers the war experiences of Bernhard Averbeck as he served in the 95th ID? Any good? I just bought it today, as it was cheap and looks promising.

Thanks, Mike Cunha

To Fish Again

I've got a number for you: 069-280-492. That's the British Book Shop. They'll answer in Deutsch but just start "Spreckin'." They've probably got lines on other good books as well. Keep in touch, Mike

Dear Mr. D.W., First of all, a mistake on my part: His first name's Heinz, not Hans. Yes, his book is great! To me the best scenes came out of Budapest but the final battles are good, too. A good, haunting story that comes back to you time to time. Very much worth reading. Take Care, Mike

To Fish

Hey Fish, Give me a little bit and I can probably find the phone number to that place.
Are you Army? I was there, in Buedingen with 1-1CAV, from 98-02.

Is Hans Landau, Author of "Goodbye Transylvania" S

Is Mr. Landau still around? He published his book some 18 years ago. Anyone know about him or how he's doing?

Books by Waffen SS Vets

First and foremost I will forever recommend Hans Landau's "Goodbye Transylvania." It was published in London in 1985 by Breedon Books. It is almost impossible to find, and by sheer luck I bought two copies through the British Book Shop in Frankfurt, Germany. It is an awesome book, and he d...

"Die Sturmflut Und Das Ende":17th SS PG DIV

Fellow Forum Peoples, Where can I get myself a copy of "Die Sturmflut Und Das Ende" at a reasonable price, say $20-40? There is a used one on Amazon.com starting at $85. I don't mind if it's in used condition if I can avoid a rather steep price like that one. Has anyone read it and is it w...
