Re: Case Red, Robert Forzcyk

Hi, Ljadw, Shirer seem to be very famous, both books have many time publication and in different languages, I endorse what you said, both books are not good and very boring for me.

Re: Case Red, Robert Forzcyk

Hi, Lajdw, I endorse your view. But I don't why this book always published many many times and translated in many language. Another good book " why France collapsed" is less popular but I think this is very good book though some information on organization of French army is not very accurate. The co...

Case Red, Robert Forzcyk

Hi, I see a new book " Case Red, collapse of France " by Robert Forzcyk , before I read two books about 1940 campaign, one is The fall of Third republic by William Shirer , too much focussed on political history, and less on military history. Another one is good, Guy Chapman, concentrated on militar...

Re: orgaisation of the LVI. Panzerkorps, June 1 1944

HI, Piet, do you know what troop formed XXIV panzerkorps ? Apart from LVI Panzerkorps, III Panzerkorps also had a large number of troops including, 1 ,7, 8, 16 and 17.Panzer divisions. I only find Panzerjager abteilung 653 in XXIV Panzerkorps in June 1944.

Re: 104. Jäger-Division StuG and halftracks

I'm afraid Nafziger is again incorrect in some points: On 6.8.1943 OKH/GenStdH/Org.Abt. authorized 1 Pz.Aufkl.Zug with 5 Pzkpfw. II and 1 Pz.Aufkl.Zug with 5 le.SPW each for the 100., 104., 114., 117. and 118. Jäger-Div.. These platoons were not part of the divisional Aufkl.Abt. but were directly s...

Re: 4. (Panzer) Kompanie / schw. Ski-Batallion 1

After studying information from other members on 1.Skijager Division, I conclude that data below, any member see if it is correct ? Schwere Ski Bataillon 1 : 1. kp : Marder 2.Kp : Grille 3.Kp : AA half track 4.Kp : T-34/76 and 85 And Each Regiment 's 13 company had six Pak -40 on RSO and three 4.7 c...

Re: 3rd PG and 2nd Pz Division 's armored vehicle stock

Danny Parker book the battle of Bulge mentions 3. PG had 20 StuG for war only, Is really so small number of AFV that German high command still sent her to offensive ? Anyone had further data on that ?

Re: Armoured Stength Army Group Centre Jan'45

Most secondary sources give an armoured strength for Army Group Centre (3rd Pz, 4th & 2nd Armies) immediately prior to the Soviet January offensive as somewhere around 700-800 Tanks and assault guns. Having been fortunate enough to see a copy of the Pz Lage & StuG Lage recently for 30/12/44 to 15/0...

Hi, I think they had less than 55 Nashorn in June 1944 as battle would exhaust their number. Or I misundstand what you say.

Re: Forgotten AFVs--The Official Sd. Kfz. 250/9 Thread!

Normally, 16 x sd.kfz.250/9 would join with 9 x sd.kfz.250/5 to form a spah company, but I find out 5. Panzer Division had 15 x 250/9 on Dec 30 1944 (close to authorized level) but she had 19 x 250/5 ( double in authorized level), if possbile they use 250/9 in other units like Wespe and Hummel units...
