Re: KIA info ?
The VDK is the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, the German war graves organisation. You can search there Thanks Simon, appreciate the link. But apparently it is only a database of registered graves , not a complete KIA list. I did a test search on Klidi Pass hero "GERHARD PLEISS",...

Re: Ambush at Poteau photo
This photo has been discussed at length here and elsewhere: It is not Heinz Maeger. Maeger didn't participate in the Bulge. He got wounded in late 1943 and after that he served in a medical unit, his book is still in print. the book you're referring to was written by HERBERT Maeger, not the _Heinz_...

Re: KIA info ?
Just checked the VDK grave search and there are no Helmut Schloss/Schlöss listed, is the spelling correct? thank you so much Simon, I appreciate your reply. If memory serves, quite a few years ago, my father, who is 2nd from the left in the original photo, said the fellow's name was Helmut Schloss ...

Ambush at Poteau photo
on the "Waffen SS History" page on facebook, the soldier in the well known "Ambush at Poteau" photo (see attached URL) supposedly "was Walter Ambrush", "is known as Hans Tragarsky" and is named "Heinz Maeger" in a History Channnel screen shot. Claims...

KIA info ?
if anyone has access to Waffen SS casualty list database, I'm seeking information (KIA date) for Helmut Schloss, 2nd Company, I Battallion, 1st SS Panzergrenadier Regiment, "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler". He is the first man on the left in attached photo, taken summer 1943. So his KIA date w...

Re: 6.SS-TK, Prague
Were there other SS facilities in Prague at the time I don't know about? I think there was a Waffen-SS field hospital ("Lazarett') in Prague and also in the Czech city of Olmutz. My Dad (2 Coy, I Btn, SS-Panzergrenadier Rgt 1, "LAH") was sent there after being wounded in Greece, 1941...
