Do you mean this post? Which part of it was copied and pasted from one of Mark Yerger's posts? Help me out here. Be nice and save me the time and trouble of going through all of Mark's posts to find the passage in question. Yes, that's the post (Deplorable,....) but don't waste your time [edit: I s...

It's however true that after the victory over Yugoslavia Germany de facto annexed the northern part of Slovenia and began drafting men into Wermacht, part of whom were from late 1942/ early 1943 onwards being procured by the Waffen-SS, when the latter abandoned its exclusively volunteer concept wer...

The number of Slovenian volunteers in Waffen-SS is negligible and estimated at most in several hundreds, nothing near the unsourced figure of 6,000 mention above. It's however true that after the victory over Yugoslavia Germany de facto annexed the northern part of Slovenia and began drafting men in...

Hi Martin I hoped you'd jump in with a commment or two. Please note that the figures given in the book give not the totals but the number of combat ready tanks only. I was thinking along the same lines, many thanks for the confirmation and further info. Quite possibly the reference to the 60th AT Ar...

On Dec 17 someone answered my topic, but it seems to be deleted now. If I'm not wrong a text was quoted, could the same person that posted it give us the source of the deleted quote? This really looks strange, it seems byron's (the author of the missing post) account was deleted. Here's another suc...

Hi Igor, The panzer figures, quoted by me, come from a small but fairly new book on the division by Hohensee and Huber Die 7.Panzer-Division im zweiten Weltkrieg 1939-1945. Kleine Divisionsgeschichte. Further info comes from Details zur Regiments- und Divisionsgeschichte 1944/45 by Egloffstein&...

This was SS-Ers.-u.Ausb.-Btl.Deutschland stationed in Prague. See Frontkämpfer - hart wie Stahl. Das Regiment "Deutschland" 1934-1945 ; it has a chapter covering the history of the replacement battalion. I have seen that battalion mentioned as the replacement unit for the entire 2.SS divi...

Here's the translation and pictures from WAF, hope it'll work: Here's the translation, I didn't change much because the text is brilliant. For better understanding here's the accompanying map: http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/1692/scanzm1.jpg This battle was actually one of the rare successful enc...

The above figures for Wiking include all division's foreign volunteers (not just Dutch). Actually Brig.Nederland didn't fare much better, when formed half of the personell was already made up from Volksdeutsche and officer were in greater part Reichsdeutsche, as the war progressed the number of Dutc...

Hi Paul!

For better understanding here're the numbers of foreigners serving in the SS-Division Wiking:

22.6.1941:
1564/19,377

19.9.1941:
1416/~18,000

1.10.1942:
2109/~16,000

Jul./Aug.1943:
1647 (Estonians = 664)/11,254

 Your typical European volunteers division, ah?
