The Czech MG37 is not the same as the BREN LMG which was developed from the Czech ZB26/30 LMGs. The MG37 was the basis for the British BESA MG used in British AFVs in WW II. Both the MG37 and the BESA were chambered for the 7.92mm x 57 Mauser cartridge which was the standard service round for the Cz...

M60 and MG42

I believe the M60 is gas operated while the MG42 is recoil operated. Not a direct descendent. I believe I read that either the M60 bolt locking mechanism or the belt feed is based on the MG42. US tried to copy/reverse engineer the MG42 during WW II, but forgot that the US .30/06 cartridge was longer...

Try http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/chronik.htm, look at 1.9.39 entry. This is an on-line version of Jurgen Rowher's Chronology of the War at Sea in its original language, German. With a little effort and application of logic, you will be able to figure it out. US Naval Institute published the ...

Spanish Arms Sales

Don't think there was any specific agreement. Cash and Carry deal, just like UK buying arms from the USA until they ran out of money and Roosevelt started Lend Lease.

MNG, Go to http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/update.htm, go down righthand column to Flottenuberblick Mittelmeer. Fighting at Bastia

UJ2214 (ex-Clairvoyant) redesignated UJ6075, sunk by HMS Untiring, 27.4.44. As the UJ numbers were assigned to the flotillas, not the specific ships, UJ2214 (ex-Vivigel) may have been sunk or reassigned and replaced by ex Clairvoyant. Article in Warship magazine about Italian corvettes stated Cormor...

Fighting at Bastia

Lupo, are you still researching this? I think I know your problem. Rohwer in Chronicle of the War at Sea says TA11 and UJ2203, UJ2205, UJ2214, and UJ2219 sunk by Torpedoboat Aliseo and corvette Cormorano at Bastia 10.9.43. All other references I 've seen say TA11 sunk at Piombino. Have you been able...
