I'd actually heard that the American troops were generally in better shape than most Europeans at the time.

Before this turns into too much of an argument though, does anyone know the current German Army standards? Perhaps they are similar.

German fitness standards

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about fitness tests in the German forces during the WW2 period?

Were there any set standards? If so what were they? I think it could be interesting to compare them to those in the military of today.

Halder,
Could you tell us a bit more about the book that you have had published?

As to your history of the Wehrmacht, how far did you get?

Wouldn't it be possible to split into four or five volumes?

Paddy,
How is the book going? It sounds like a very interesting project.

I bet you're seldom bothered if there's nothing on TV!

Looks like fair collection you've got.

One thing though, if the Waffen-SS dvd is the same one I had, 80% of the footage is normal Wehrmacht stuff. Rather disappointing!

Re: Heer Camouflage

Hi, How prevalent was camouflage within Heer units from Kursk to the end of the war in the East? Were helmet covers more common than tent quarters? Other than GD, did many Heer units have smocks? From D-day in the west, same question. How prevalent was camouflage within the Heer units in Normandy? ...

Why repros?

Originals of these two items can bought pretty cheaply.

Do you mean the Wehrmacht?

If so, yes there were. One of the major sources of new recruits for the Free Polish forces in Italy was the Wehrmacht.
