Re: Tank & Halftrack strength of I.SS.Pz.Korps in Dec.44

Mad Dog,
I'll take that, too. I might be able to make some good deductions since I have December's.

Thanks

Strength of 9 PzD & 15 PGD mid Oct 1944

Hi all,
I wonder if any of you can help me with the strengths of the 9th Panzer & 15th PanzerGrenadier Divisions in mid-October 1944 (spec Oct 27). I appreciate any details you can provide about manpower, guns, and vehicles.

Thanks!

Re: Großdeutschland Stugs/Stuhs

Yes, the 105 was not as good as the 75 in the AT role. The 105 did have limited HEAT ammo that helped. It should be noted that the Stug Bgds were originaly part of the artillery branch and were intended to lend fire support to infantry. That may explain the rationale for the presence of 105s. IOW, t...

Apollyon wrote:What Jadgpanther unit?
559 Pz.Jgr Abt. had 4 of them.
But it was no where near Arnhem. All the way down the corridor near Veghel.

Hope that helps

Thank you. Good stuff.

How does 11,000 men compare to what it was supposed to have?

Also, if it incorporated the 1027 Rgt, what was its organization? Did it have three inf/PG regiments then?

Appreciate your insights.

Thanks

There is a thread at

No pictures but some good discussion and citing of sources.

Hope that helps,

I had not heard of StuGIIIs involved in that attack, but I did read of Marders used in the attack. The 709th had Marders in its OOB.
Unfortunately I cannot recall the source and don't have the reference available so I cannot verify right now.
