That is a great clip! I haven't flown any model airplanes, so I don't know how hard it is. Surely, however, to make that big thing lose control, regain it and then land must be no easy feat. Also, the remote control that the gentleman is using must have a really strong signal, because that B...

Oh, and thank you for the kind words, I am quite proud of my Uncle :D Tom, if you come across anything that would trully be awesome! And if the archives are with...

Tom, No, I have not searched those documents. Are they accessible as a sort of public record, that might be obtained from a internet database? I guess, I could always ask some of my older relatives, but most are either dead, or from what I've heard, still very sad about his death and probably don't ...

Reb, Thank you for the info! :D I'll have to do some research about D-Day and his particular unit. You're certainly right about the hedgerows -- apparently the sniper that shot him was hiding out in one. I'm sure those things made good sniper nests, as they appear big and thick from pictures I have ...

Hey guys, Very interesting survey - here are my results (if anyone is interested): You scored as a France, Free French and the Resistance Your army is the French army. You are prefer to win your enemies by politics than by sheer action, but when the war has started you will fight to the end with tho...

Hi Starke, I cannot add more than what Maigewitter has suggested, other than perhaps he was part of a flak-unit. This guess is sadly based on only one caption to a picture that I saw awhile bacrecently where a couple of young soldiers had similar collar patches and were described as manning a flak c...

Commissar D, the Evil,

I'll volunteer to be in your tale, too. Although, I'm not completely sure what it's about, but I'm willing to bet it'll be pretty cool.

Hey Sid,

Thanks for the info! Strangely enough, it is for some reason hard to find many books on the subject in either my local library and/or at my local commercial book-retailer....so off to Amazon.com I may very well go :D

Shipping U-Boats by rail?

Hi guys, After watching the movie "Das Boot" awhile back, I got to thinking (or maybe this was brought up earlier on this site...don't know) about why the U-Boat in the movie had to slip past the Strait of Gibraltar? Would it not have been less risky to have to the boat shipped by rail fro...

Hey guys, I have just finished reading this thread, and I am curious as to if there are any pictures floating around the Web, that show the "Penguin," (aka the successful German commerce-raider)? If any of you readers, of this particular post, have either a pic or know where to find one of...
