Tour of Poland, Goldap to Gdansk
I am interested in tracing the steps of my Grandfather in Jan/Feb 1945 from the Goldap area, west toward the sea. He was killed in the area of (now) Lelkowo and Kandyty in mid February 1945. Is there anyone in the area that knows the history of the retreat in this area? I would like to find a guide ...

Oskar Zwickel and Josef Kreuels
Looking for Oskar Zwickel. He was possibly in the 23 ID, in East Prussia, Lelkowo and Kandyty area when taken prison by Russians in February or March 1945. He returned to Germany in 1949 or 1950 and resided in Augsburg. Does anyone know if he is still alive or has family? One of his Lieutenants was ...

M.Kp.Pi.Ers.Btl.311
Can anyone tell me what all this means? Where can I get more information? Another entry reads: Gen.Kp.Pi.Ers.Btl.311
This is an entry in a war book of my Grandfather's. A date of 5.8.44 is written next to it.

Need information on Gottesgnade and Ringfelde
I am trying to locate any information on the battles in Ringfelde and Gottesgnade on the Prussian Front in February 1945. My Grandfather was reportedly killed in Gottesgnade in early February 1945. I am unable to locate these towns and any battle information.

Red Cross Book
Thank you Christoph, but if you have it, can you give me the name of the two volume set? I want to get a better printable copy of the maps for my own reference. If it is available in Germany, my Aunt lives there and can get it for me, maybe find it in a library.

Last battle of 21 ID
Thanks. From what I have heard, he fell in battle as they retreated and there was no knowledge of a grave, at least as of the Red Cross letter dated 1974. He was also not seen in any POW camp. I will check out the addresses you recommended.

Thank you for the information. I actually just started reading The Forgotten Soldier last week, and that is what sparked my interest in finding out more information. It looks like Guy Sajer came through Pallau and the area where my Grandfather fought. I have some general information and am looking f...

Requesting info on the 21st Infantry Division in 1945
My Grandfather was killed between February and April 1945 on the Prussian front near the Pillau area. He was in the 21st Infantry Division. I am trying to gather more information as to his death, and was wondering if there are any survivors of this division or anyone else that has some knowledge.
