Hi,

I have got some more questions:

1.) What was the name of the main KG of the 14. Pz at the time of the Uranus offensive? Because I know that the infantry was called KG Seeydlitz and was displaced inside Stalingrad, the artillery was in KG Ludwig as part of Pz Res Heim (XXXXVIII. PzK), and also KG Sauvant and Sauerbruch belonged to the division. But I don't know the name for the main group of the unit, t.i. the Pz Reg and the div.einh.

2.) Back to our beloved Gr Goebel/Adam/Abraham. After Goebel was replaced by Adam, did he become the commander of a KG? Because in Michi's OOB for Armee Wenck there is a KG Goebel in the ranks of Gr Adam.

3.) KG Gabelenz, as part of Gr Adam. Gabelenz was the CO of 384. ID, and Gr Adam was part of 384. ID. ANY hint about what this KG Gabelenz was?

Best,

Abel

I quote:

Kampfgruppe Mikosch
Kampfgruppe Goebel
Kampfgruppe Sauerbruch
Kampfgruppe von der Gabelens.“

Here you can see, Hauptmann Goebel was again CO of a battle-group, within the Gruppe/Division Adam.

Another story is the Kampfgruppe von der Gabelens.
I have 3 sources which mention a Kampfgruppe von der Gabelens.
B.U.T. also mention the CO of the 384. InfDiv as Generalleutnant Gablenz.

Battle-groups @ Kalmyck-Steppe:
Kampfgruppen in der Kalmücken-Steppe:

Today I received a map showing a Gruppe von Roques, instead of the known Gruppe Auleb??

Who was von Roques?
Who was the successor of whom?
or did both Gruppen exist in the same area and same time??
Any infos about OOB & T/O&E??

Hi Michi,

I guess von Roques was probably General der Infanterie z.V. Karl von Roques, listed as "K.G. d. Sich.Tr. und Befehlshaber im rückwärtigen Heeresgebiet Süd." He undertook this role from 16. March 1941 to December 1942.

Roques, Karl von
Born 7. May 1880 in Frankfurt/Main.
Died 24. December 1949 in Landsberg/Lech while in American captivity.

If interested, I can give his career details as found in Keilig's book.

Auleb was Generalleutnant Helge Auleb. From 10. June 1942, he was "General z.b.V. bei Heeresgruppe A". Next entry in Keilig says: Gruppe 'Auleb' (Kaukusus) 20.12.42, following that it says: Abschnitt Kommando 'Auleb' (Krim) 1.2.43. Hope all that makes sense to you. Let me know if you want his other details.

Hi Michi,

While looking for Panzerverband 700 documents, I came across others which relate to Kampfgruppen SW of Stalingrad.

In the war diary of 4. Panzerarmee, I found some casualty figures for individual Kampgruppen while subordinate to 4. Panzerarmee. The dates in brackets are the period in which the unit was sub. to 4. Panzerarmee, and therefore the period in which the casualties occured.

Kpf.Gr.Stahel (24.12.-27.12.42)
1 Offz killed, 1 Offz wounded
22 men killed, 37 men wounded

Kpf.Gr.Adam (4.12.-9.12.42)
6 Offz killed, 21 Offz wounded, 1 Offz missing
146 men killed, 696 men wounded, 29 men missing

Kpf.Gr.Hallmann (4.12.-9.12.42)
1 Offz missing
6 men wounded, 3 men missing

Kpf.Gr.Burgsthaler (18.12.-25.12.42)
4 men killed, 4 men wounded, 1 man missing

Kpf.Gr.Stumpfeld (13.12.-24.12.42)
4 Offz killed, 2 Offz wounded
67 men killed, 254 men wounded

336.Inf.Div. (5.12.-31.12.42)
18 Offz killed, 23 Offz wounded, 5 Offz missing
257 men killed, 672 men wounded, 138 men missing

384.Inf.Div. (5.12.-31.12.42)
13 Offz killed, 22 Offz wounded, 7 Offz missing
158 men killed, 572 men wounded, 274 men missing

Unfortunately, nothing about Panzerverband 700 or other Kampfgruppen in which you're interested.
