need info about grandfather

All i know about him so far is that his name is V. Fick, He was born in Hamburg and served in luftwaffe.
Does anyone recognise the badge, it looks like wound medal in black but it's not, note the loop like curls where, if it was bww, swords would be.
Any info would be greatly appreciated as relatives are not too keen to talk about it.[/img]

The photo appears to be an early or pre-war portrait and the badge appears to be the German national sports achievment badge, awarded for the individual achieving above average proficiency in gymnastics.

Well, if you are related and other family members aren't willing to discuss him at all you next best bet is to contact the German archives with as much information about him as possible, they will get back to you with whatever they have on file for him. It may take some time for them to reply though.

The German Archiv has much info about particular persons!!
But it could that to an half an year till you get a messege from them!!

But they have good an much info about someone!!
