This staff officer is seen on film clips of the invasion of Poland jumping around with apparent joy. Can you please identify him? Also shown is another picture with a more somber face during the retreat from Italy. I think this is the same man. The right arm patches match.

It seems correct, I also thin that it's Generaloberst Edouard Dietl, commander of the 20. Gebirgs-Armee.
