Identification of a german officer

A co-worker of mine tries to find out something about her late grandfathers time in ww2.
He was in the Luftwaffe stationed in France during german occupation.
When she went through his picture collection she found a photo of another german officer who probably served together with her grandfather and now she is curious who this is:

As far as I know the rank insignia shows an Oberst (Colonel) of the Luftwaffe.
I canĀ“t even read the name. Can you?
Or does anyone know that officer?
Any help is appreciated.

This is General der Flieger Kurt Flugbeil (thanks to Andrey over at AHF). His rank insignia on this photograph is gold embraided and shows a General's rank. Here's a short bio...
