should germany and america pursue closer relations?

i believe the time has come for germany and the united states to pursue closer ties economically, diplomatically, and militarily. germany is the strongest nation in europe and as such should be a closer ally of the united states. the us recently made a terrific mistake getting caught snooping on our european allies as well as others and this has not helped the situation so there will have to be a cooling off period. i also believe the time has come for a real north american trade zone with more open borders and completely unfettered trade between canada and the us. in actuality canada and the us should move towards becoming more as one country. we should have a health system like canadas. i believe the us has much to gain from closer ties with germany and germany should begin to take a more prominent place in world affairs.
