Can anyone tell me something about SS-Røntgensturmbann who participated in the battle of the Warszaw getto?(if they did so, at all?)
Some Norwegian wolunters fell there, and there are some talk about war crimes.

SS-Røntgensturmbann never participated in the battle of the Warszaw getto 19.04. - 15.05.1943
But they participated in Warsaw uprising 01.08 - 02.10.1944
It was probably one company of this unit (about 100 men including probably 20 norwegians) under commands of Oskar Dirlewanger. 4 Norwegians was killed.
If you want know more about war crimes read more about Dirlewanger Brigade

The book "De som falt - Nordmenn som døde i tysk krigstjeneste" by Erik Veum and Geir Brenden covers this subject briefly, but I guess that's where you might have read about it in the first place?

Yes Nicolai.

I read it in dsf.
And I have discussed it with some of the old komerades.
They could not tell me anything new.
So I am still curious.

Guess the unit is just a bit too obscure. A visit to the various archives would probably uncover some more information, but it would be quite the undertaking...

You could try to contact the authors of De Som Falt (directly if you're able to, or just through the publisher), they might be willing to share more of their findings. Perhaps even a full list of the Norwegians who were a part of it.

The purpose of this unit was to detect pulmonary deseases among members of the SS. (Röntgen was the man who discovered the X-Rays).

Hello!
According to the OOB in Davies "Warzaw 44", the RöStub units were:

- 1 SMG platoon placed in "Angriffsgruppe Reck", and the 1st Platoon from Company "Röntgen" is listed as reserve unit. The Dirlewanger unit was placed in "Angriffsgruppe Reinefarth". This listing is from 20.8.44, and might have changed.

In the museum of Warchau it's also mentioned under "Reck" and not in the near of Dirlewanger. The unit consisted of Flemish volunteers as well. Any further info would be welcome (since my father was one of the Flemish volunteers and got wounded there)

Do you have any referenses to Your claim that the SS-Røntgensturmbann was under the command of Oskar Dirlewanger?

Members of the SS-Røntgensturmbann claims that they were there to X-ray photograph wounded German soldiers. Do you know if there is some truth behind this? Or was unit in this case a part of the combat and contributed to the war crimes that took place?
