SS Photo?

Post by postofficeworker »

Can anyone tell me if this is an SS soldier or not? Is it possible to date the period too? Cheers! :D

I don't think so.
SS men wore the skull badge on the front of their caps. This one looks like a "cockarde" the red white black, the Wehrmacht wore.
Also there are no kragenspiegel, neither Wehrmacht, nor Waffen SS.
I submit that this guy belonged to some obscure unit of militia.
Just an observation.

Nono Haen, this man is wearing a typical Allgemeine SS-Schiffchen, with the typical Totenkopf button, and the typical Allgemeine-SS black/white piping around his collar.

I must stand corrected. I never saw such a totenkopf button before. My uncle who was in the Algemeine SS ( as well as the waffen SS) wore the totenkopf metal skull, but not part of a button.
So well, never too old to learn
