What would be the difference between a 'Stellungs' denoted unit and a 'Festungs' denoted unit? Presumably they are both static formations as one is 'positional' and the other is 'fortress' based. A change in nomenclature over the years perhaps?

stellungs troops....................
means they build it. they dig it into the ground, etc.
festungs means those old castle fortresses, concrete bunkers, etc.
that's my take anyway!

I've always read it as not stellung vs Festung - but festungs being in hardened positions, whereas "stellungs" being expected to be in static postions in the field while other field units would manouver in respect of them. Probably in real life just meant they were stripped of any organic transport LOL
