Servus,
I can't seem to make heads or tails of this sentence :
Die Truppenaerzte operieren, wenn die Schwere der Verwundung einen Aufschub des Eingriffs sich nicht verantworten laest.
Can someone please translate this for me.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Helmut

Hi,
The medics do the operation if the injury is so heavy that is does not allow waiting.
It´s not a literal translation. I guess it means that normally the Truppenarzt = (army doctor close to the frontline) does not operate such severe wounds but only stabilizes the patient to get him to a surgery. But if the injuries are so bad that there´s no time to waste they make an emergency operation.

As all soldiers know since thousands of years death is not noble. It´s just very final.

A more colloquial English tranlation might be:
The military doctors in the field operated whenever the severity of the wound meant a delay in treatment would be irresponsible.
