Hello!

Again I need the help of the community. During the work on my KStN charts I sometimes have problems to determine the correct vehicles/trailers.

In a Panzerwerkstattkompanie KStN 1187 (5.10.1937) there are 5 trailers for tank transports with the designation Vsah.654 and Vsah.642. The 642 seems to be for heavier tanks as it is towed by the Sd.Kfz.9.

I know Sd.Ah.115 and 116 but how do these two above mentioned look? Were they the same with just another (pre war) designation?
Any info on Vsah.654 and 642 welcome.

Again, Milsom's book as I've quoted before.

SdAh115 - 8/10ton transporter
SdAh116 - 23ton transporter
SdAn118 - 45ton transporter
SdAn123 - 68ton transporter

The 115 is shown as a "low-boy" transporter( as we call it in the US, doubt that it is called that in the rest of the world). The center load-carrying portion is set down about right below the wheel hub centerline.

The 60/68ton transporter is a level carrier running on 24 wheels on 6 axles spread over the length of the trailer.

No photos or details of the other variants.

I've seen Milsom's book on eBay everal times. Well worth getting.

Thanks again Paul but my question was about the Vsah designations. I have fotos of all the Sd.Ah. versions but not of these Vsah. trailers.

Vs ah.654 and Vsah.642.

AFAIK both the Tiefladeanhänger für Panzerkampfwagen 20t (Vs. Ah. 642) and the Tiefladeanhänger für Panzerkampfwagen 8t (Vs. Ah. 654) were testing model of the Tiefladeanhänger für Panzerkampfwagen 22/23t (Sd. Ah. 116) introduced in Dec 1940 and the Tiefladeanhänger für Panzerkampfwagen 10t (Sd. Ah. 115) introduced in Apr 1938. Vs. stands for Versuch-experimental.
