My great-uncle was Felix Goebel (not 'oe' but 'o-umlaut').
He was in the Luftwaffe and we think he may have been a pilot. Family story goes that he was shot down near the French/Spanish border in 1944. I have checked the graves registration online and it lists him as 'missing'.
I have searched through the web and he is not listed as one of the 'Aces' of the Luftwaffe, and have no earthly clue what unit he was in.
Are there any online resources for searching? My experience with the Bundesarchiv, etc, has not been good. Likely because of the language barrier.
I am visiting relatives tonight who have pictures of him. I'm going to attempt to scan them and post them so perhaps one of you can at least tell me his rank and anything else you can get from the pictures. Any help would be appreciated.
