He is not a Gebirgsjäger.
There was five "of him" in his division.
Wich is what "organizational placement" refers to.

Not a Gebirgsjäger, but a Jäger, in the 97. Jäger-Division, the Spielhahn-Division or Spielhahnfeder.
So short of actually naming him, look closely at what is hanging around his neck. There were 5 given to soldiers in this division.

47th Volksgrenadier Division is also a clue here.

Sorry, but you are not correct
Amongst the five ELs in 97. Jäger-Division there is ONE who got his EL nine days after your candidate....
Hence you are nine days off, or 4 ELs if wou wish.
This man also survived the war, with the rank of colonel and division commander of a before mentioned division.
