Hello to all :D; something more about it ...........

The Kradschützen-Bataillon 40 of the 10. Infanterie-Division (mot) in the assault on Mosccú.

Operation Typhoon. Advance towards Tula.

On February 1, 1942, the Soviets attacked the town of Shukowka with heavy tanks. Leutnant Dietel left that the tanks passed on his position and rejected the infantry which followed behind them. The tanks, now unprotected by infantry, were neutralized with explosive charges.

Later the Commander of the Kradsch. Btl 40 wrote that the success in retaining Shukowka was due to efforts of Leutnant Dietel.

Hello to all :D; the end...........

The Kradschützen-Bataillon 40 of the 10. Infanterie-Division (mot) in the assault on Mosccú.

Operation Typhoon. Advance towards Tula.

Again and again the heavy machine-gun Platoon was used as a firemen at the focal points of the sector. This also happened on February 09, 1942 in Wyschneje. The losses had risen alarmingly in the interim, and Dietel was now the last company officer throughout the battalion.

On this day, the enemy succeeded after hard fighting, and managed to invade the village. Leutnant Dietel, who had rejected the enemy attacks in their sector with heavy losses, quickly reached the site of the gap in order to participate in the counterattack. Using the latest hand grenades launched an assault against the Russians with a handful of German soldiers and lost his life.

Hello to all :D; taking advantage of this old thread..........

Moscow defensive position.

The division then advanced across the Ugra to the Moscow protective position near Detschino. After breaking through the defensive position near Malojaroslavets, the division advanced across the Protva to the Nara, southwest of Moscow. Here it was stopped by the Russian winter offensive. Combat strength of the division is finally broken on the Nara in late Oct 41; from 31 Jul – 31 Oct 41 division sustains 5881 casualties.
