Hello to all :D; the end.................

Amphibious operations in the Eastern Front - Beowulf II. Unternehmen Sigfrido

Development of the operation.

On October 12 and 13 of 1941, the cruise “Koln” and the minesweepers of the 1. and 4 to Flotillas carried out naval gunfire on the battery of Ritsna. At noon the IR 151 began to cross the Straits of Soela and at dusk the mass of the regiment was assembled in the South sector of the island of Dagö.

The night had fallen; the IR 151 to the left and the IR 176 to the right advanced in the north direction. A motorized group battle pressed on Kärdla and it advanced slowly towards the North end of the Island of Dagö by the snow-covered footpaths. Taking cover in refuges made of earth, shrubs and branches of fir, the troops spent one frozen night.

At the same time radio Belgrade began the emission of its famous song, Lili Marleen. On October 21 of 1941, the resistance ceased in the island and the Russians withdrew towards Hangö
