The Hidden Hitler by Lothar Machtan
I recieved a copy of this book for my birthday recently and was wondering what everyone though of it. It seems to be a throughly researched book with about 100 pages of end notes. Any comments?

some online discussion (there are plenty on a topic like this!):

Did someone give you this book as a gag? Or it sounds like the type of book a comatose relative would give me since if it says something about Hitler or WW2, it must be a book I want to read, right?

The Hidden Hitler
Its funny that you should mention this book - I sat in on a seminar discussion on it last week.
I'm not really into this sort of history - sensational, speculative personal histories - just because they really fail to present any concrete evidence to prove/disprove their point. There is plenty of innuendo but few hard facts. Much of the speculation surrounding Hitler's personal life is based on an Allied intelligence report from 1942 - which I have trouble seeing as a reliable and objective source.
Nevertheless, the book is a gadfly of sorts. The book's central arguement, that Hitler was gay, has stirred up controversy and stimulated discussion, so I guess that the book serves a purpose.
