Rw-Schützen-Regiment 42 / Infantry Regiment 19

Post by Shawn »

When did Reichswehr-Schützen-Regiment 42 become Infantry Regiment 19? 1 January 1921?

Thanks!

That is correct. Ubergangsheer Reichswehr-Brigaden 21, 23 and 24 were all used to help build Reichswehr Division 7 on Jan 1 1921. Ubergangsheer Reichswehr-Brigade 21 consisted of Reichswehr-Schützen-Regiment 41 and 42 as well as Reichswehr-Artillerie-Regiment 21. As you pointed out already, Reichswehr-Schützen-Regiment 42 became part of Inf.Reg.19 of Reichswehr Division 7 when it was formed.

Jason,

As always, many thanks for the assist! BTW, do you know of a good reference book(s) that covers the details of the transitional period from the unit perspective?

Regards,
Shawn

Do I, I sure do!! I don't have access to my library right now though as I am moving this weekend so I can't list them all but one of your best sources I actually kept out to read while I'm still moving - "Deutsche Verbande und Truppen 1918-1939" by Georg Tessin. It's by far one of the best single sources and I can't recomend it highly enough. I can provide a listing of others once I begin to unpack...
