I had this question on "Current Research" but realising it was a bit off-topic I'll try here!
I have an old copy of "Fallschirmjäger der Waffen-SS" which is great when it comes to the Balkan W-SS FJ operations and such.
However, there is one minor mentioning of a planned assault on the Åland islands (in the Baltic sea) . It was never carried out but if I remember correctly (the book is not readily available at the moment) it went so far as to loading on trains heading for a northern German coast town. There the the final preparations would have been done in order to carry out the operation.
Does anyone have any additional info or suggestions for reading/researching on this (quite sketchy) question?
Best regards,
~Sigurd
