End of an Italian submersible.

Post by tigre »

Hello to all :D; a short story.................................

The end of an Italian submersible.

For hours an Italian submersible was shadowed by a British destroyer in the central Mediterranean. Depth charges were dropped repeatedly; the submersible fought hard, but eventually conditions became so bad that the boat had no choice but to blow her tanks and surface. The hunt was over, only remained the kill with the support of a seaplane. The British destroyer having claimed her victory, stood by to rescue the crew of her victim.

Identification of both contenders? Cheers. Raúl M 8).

Hello to all :D; Apparently the adversaries were the destroyer HMAS Stuart and the submersible smg Gondar, September 30, 1940. Cheers. Raúl M 8)

Hello Raul,
I think it's correct:
On the 30th of september 1940, as Italian submarine "GONDAR" approached Alexandria carrying human torpedoes for an attack on the base, she was found by a RAF Sunderland of No 230 Squadron and sunk by Australian destroyer "Stuart".
