Das Reich Tank Commander

Post by Fish »

Trying this one again, I am searching for a section, platoon or possibly even a company commander who might have been involved in supporting the 6th Para Regt in Notmandy (July)an old friend of mine says his name was Alex/Alexis something to that nature. Anyone got any good guesses or places to research those lower level tank commanders. I know that he was a Scharfuhrer (or Ober/Haupt) in charge of at least 3 MKIVs.

Its a tough one
Thanks alot

That sounds like Matthias Alexy, from 7./SS-PR 2, who was promoted to SS-Ustuf. and awarded the Honor Roll Clasp on October 27, 1944.

Marc
Thanks for the info, that sounds like it might be him as the award of the Honor Roll Clasp coinsides with the Knights Cross awarded the same week to the Para he was supporting.
Any Idea of why the clasp was awarded to him??
Thanks again
