Servus,
I'm not sure where to ask this question but I thought I'd give it a shot herre under weapons and equipment.
I have seen pictoral evidence of various SS Divisional commanders having their own Fiesler Storch airplanes. Did Wehrmackt Division Commanders have these aircraft assigned to them?
Who flew the aircraft, pilots from the Luftwaffe or from the Service to which the commander belonged?
Thanks in advance for any information.
Regards,
Helmut

Helmut,
Since no one has provided a definitive answer, I will supply what (little) info I have:
Several Divisional Commanders were skilled pilots.

Re: Who flew the plane?
Thank you, Rand. I have read about several Generals who were shot down while on reconaissance missions, like Theodor Eicke of the Totenkopf Division and they had pilots. There must have been some kind of provision for an assigned pilot for a General officer if that officer was assigned a plane
I'm sure that some generals were capable of flying thei rown planes but I am equally sure that was not the way it was supposed to be.
Thanks again
