Brits sent to France post Dunkirk

Can anyone tell me the commanders and composition of the two Brit divisions sent to France after the Dunkirk evacuation?? I was rather surprised that the British would do this considering the risk, although they did manage to evacuate these troops from channel ports later back to England. Best wishes.

Hi John,
I don't know about the British Divisions but I am pretty sure that the 1st Canadian Infantry Brigade landed in Brittany on 13 June. I hope this helps.

Hi John,
The 52nd (Lowland) Division and the 1st Canadian Division were send to France.
These forces became known as the Second BEF.

Re: 1st Canadian (Inf.) Div. being sent to Brittany in June 1940. You can find more detail about this in the "Official History of the Canadian Army in WWII." Apparently, some men were landed and then re-embarked after spending less than 12 hours on shore. They were told that a German armoured column was heading their way.
