David, you could go out on a limb and call it an Anti-Tank Rifle if you wanted, although I have a Panzer video in which the translator doing the voice over keeps calling it a "Tank Can" due to two menaings for the German "Büchse"
I actually deliberately held back as I thought that there was a 2.8cm weapon also called "Panzerbuesche" which would have been more of an A/T gun than A/T rifle.
The standard for most infantry companies was one "Panzerbüchsentrupp with 3 rifles". You just have to multiply that with the companies in a battalion. That of course varied in time and some special organised divisions. But with the standard setup of three companies and a machinegun company that would be 9 rifles.
After Poland the machinegun battalions were reorganised. The new organisation had to be finished until 15.February 1940 and had 9 Pz.B. in its organisation.
