Heeres-Zeugämter

Postby Scott Revell » Sun Jul 17, 2011 10:12 pm

Hi all,

What is the Heeres-Zeugämter. Is it a place where someone would order more weapons/equipment for a unit?

Thanks in advance.

At the assembly plants the tanks were completed by civilian craftsmen. The tanks were fitted
out with gun and machineguns but without ammunition, radio equipment and tools. After the
required test run and acceptance by the Abnahmekommission (acceptance committee) the
tanks were handed over to the Heeres-Zeugämter (army material agency). The
Heeres-Zeugämter equipped the tanks completely with secondary armament, ammunition,
tools, e.g, adjusted the weapons and made them “field ready”. According to a proposal by the
Gen.Insp.d.Pz.Truppen to the leadership the tanks were distributed. The AFV were sent to the
Panzer-Divisionen by the Heeres-Zeugämtern escorted by personal from the homeland army
with railway transport.
