The Schwab brothers.

Post by kahl »

Hey all.

I am sitting here with a lot, mostly from Ignaz Schwab, 8 feldpostletters, and around 14 photos also mostly with Ignaz Schwab on.

These 3 brothers are Niels, Ignaz, and Hugo Schwab. They belonged to the NSU (the youth movement of the DNSAP) before joining the Danish SA in Copenhagen. In early 1941 they volunteered for the Waffen-SS, and trained at Sennheim and then Klagenfurt. They then were assinged to serve together in the same squad of Westland, with which Niels (the youngest) was killed in action on February 2, 1942. During 1943 Ignaz transferred to Germania, with which he spent the rest of the war as a Rottenführer. Hugo also finished the was as a Rottenführer after being assigned to Horst Wessel.

The first two letters to Ignaz, his stamped as SS-Rottenführer, but at the rest of the letters he is stamped as SS-Sturmann.

Do any know more about this 3 brothers?? Do any know more about Ignaz??

Hello,

i found a picture of the Schwab brothers on another messageboard :

http://www.samlarforum.nu/download/file.php?id=26788

There is another one in the Signal July 1941, issue 14, with the three brothers in Sennheim.

I think that Niels is the youngest one on the left (KIA), but i have difficulties to know who is Hugo and Ignaz ?

Is Ignaz the oldest brother, with the round face in the middle ?

Thanks for your help,

Vincent

Hi,

i just checked the massive work of JM Liandier on his "Cernay 1940-1945" and i found other pictures of the Schwab brothers, probably given my Hugo or Ignaz.

It confirm that Ignaz is the one with the round face.
