All the old guard passing away in my family

Post by canadien »

I don't know what it is , but all the old guard are passing away in my family. We now lost our Unkle Ernst. Ernst Eckard was a German commando and operator of a Lentil-Explosive motor boat
He now joins the rest of the old guard,we lost , He got me interested in plastic Model kits, and whenever my brothers and I would play the old avalon hill wargames. he would point out the locations he served. Thats what I will remember about him. I just wanted to post this so as to honor him and the rest of the old guard

I, too, send my condolences.

It won't be too long before the old guard is only a memory.

My father just lost a close comrade from his weapons platoon(US) during the war. It took him awhile to start feeling better again. God bless them all.

Our family Uncle Ernst Ecckert. These are pics we obtained after he passed away. The Man in the kriegsmarine cap is Uncle Ernst, In one pic he is on guard duty he is person to right with tow stick grenades in his belt(very dark pic ill try to improve it later on. Our understanding is these pics are of him and his company before he joined the k9 and drove the linssen boats. We have no idea who the wermacht man is it was just in Unkle Ernsts possessions
