Hello All,
I have recieved a few letters and was looking to see if anyone had any idea where they were mailed from. I believe I read the post mark as it is written at the end of the letter:
L O V 297
Lg, P.A. Berlin
F.P.M 11084/5
If I read that correctly as the Feldpost address when does it mean. Any books in english covering Feldpost addresses or something on the internet?
Best Regards
George

Re: Feldpost Assistance
Could anyone help me, I recently got some old photos, and now I am interested which soldiers are on them. (i dont have scanner). Vell, on the photos are german soldiers, some soldiers in german uniforms but with croatian coat of arm patch on their sleeve, and serbian chetniks,, together. On the back side says: To my father_________ ________ in Traca or Praca (i dont know how to read it its cursive), by __________ ________ Feldpost 25808 E. I searched on the net, but they say that there were no E army, only A-D. But if the soldier wrote E than its got to bi E. It says it wos croatian volonteer in german army. Were they?

See if this helps:

I couldn't get a definitive answer off it, but if you read this page, then go to the front page, it does provide some good information that may help you make more sense of what you have.

Re: Feldpost Assistance
Going back and reading that, based on knowledge I picked up somewhere I can't recall right now, there might be an error.
Now, if I could just remember where I got this explanation.
Now, Rene indicates that 25808A would be 1.Kompanie. However, I recall reading elsewhere that 25808A would actually have been assigned to the Battalion Staff, which would mean that 25808E would be 4.Kompanie.I Battalion (1-4 Co.)---------- 25808 A-D
Now, if I could just remember where I got this explanation.

Hello Tom Houlihan !
Maybe it was this link, you were thinking of ?!
http://forum-der-wehrmacht.de/thread.php?threadid=4973
Anyway, although it is in german, the explanation on that site strongly supports your suspicion,
that E stands for 4. Kompanie !
Best regards,
hero.
