Hello all;
I will be in Nijmegen in a couple of weeks for their annual 4 day march.
I am wondering if their are any worthwhile military shops in or around Nijmegen or Amsterdam?

Re: Military shops in Holland?
Nothing spectacular but there is for example:
Nijmeegs Jopie Dumphandel
Grotestraat 13
6511 VB Nijmegen
Ben's Dump Shop
Graafseweg 562
6603 CL Wijchen
Dump en Trend
Daalseweg 48
6521 GN Nijmegen
Tel: 024 3234205
If I where you I would go to the private collectors in that area and for sure the Liberty Park in Overloon ! And of course the German Cemetery in Ysselsteyn, I could give you a tour there if you like.

Jopie Dumphandel is probably the best in the region but if it's Wehrmacht stuff you're after don't get your hopes up too high. They may have a helmet and a gasmaskcontainer but that will probably be just about all.
Good luck in the 4-Daagse!
I was going to walk it too this year for the first time in 15 years. Got myself well prepared until I got a very nasty infection two weeks ago leading to a 9-day stay in hospital. Totally wasted now and too little time to recuperate.
Major bummer , but there's aways the 2010 edition

Good to hear that de "vierdaagse" still exists.
I walked it in the Dutch military, full pack and weapon, plus my medic bag in 1951.
the "Boldoot" Eau de Cologne company was demonstarting, and sprayed anybody who wanted with cologne during the march.
"Borst bloot voor Boldoot" ( bare chest for Boldoot) became soon a slogan.
Oh to be young again ( even with all of its miseries).

Re: Military shops in Holland?
Finished the march......got the medal and the memories. Feet are still recuperating hahaha.
Never found those shops but I did find one in Arnhem but he had nothing of interest except a couple hat badges.
Thanks for the info though.
PS-The Dutch infantry still carry full packs and wpns. They are the ONLY ones allowed to carry weapons as they can wear the medals on their uniforms.....no other country wears the medal. All the other military units just carry a 10kg (22.7lb) pack.
Ahhh the good times w/the early mornings and walking for 8hrs.
