Hello!
Are you sure that Ostuf Radke formally was commanding I./Norge?
Vogt commanded I.Norge until 1.3.45, and then a Stubaf Barth succeeded him, according to Michaelis.
it does also say that Radke commanded the remains of the I./Norge, so at least unofficially he was the last commander.

Who was Haas?

In the small booklet on I./Norge both Amund Enger and Karl Martini stated, that after Vogt was KIA his Adj. Radtke took over as Batallionsführer.

Hi!

From the files of german red cross I found that Hstuf. Helmut GUTOWSKI (DKiG with 7./Germania 1943) took charge of I./Norge sometime in april 1945 and on his POW card writes that he was a Kdr. of I./Norge until the capitulation on 7.5.45. But there seems to be an unknown Stubaf between VOGT (when he was releaved of command in March 1945 at Urkut/Hungary) and GUTOWSKI who by Herbert MALLIS are called BARTH - but there is nobody in the Führerliste by this name.

The veterans clerly remembers this Stubaf who must have had little or no experience from frontline duties. The norwegians within the Nachrichtenzug on the Funkgeräte remebers that he did not understand that the messagens through wireless must be coded to the division. This Stubaf was decribed by veterans as total useless... Therefore GUTOWSKI may have replaced him on orders from GILLE or ULLRICH. Unfortunately his name are schrouded in mysteri if not anyone here can have some valuable information.....

Very interesting!

Has he had little frontline experience, could it have been one of these?

Hi Bjørn!

Thanks for mentioned these officers, but I really do not know. I have nothing to work on concerning this man.......

Now there are very few survivors left of the Btl. who can give any valuble information on him also.

Hi!

AANONSEN was KIA 5.2.44 leading an Wehrmacht company (2. Copmany but Rgt. is not known, I have the name of the Oberleutnant he succeded as Kp.fhr) south of Narva city, he was before a Zug.Fhr within the 11./23.
SUNDBERG is not known wether or not he was within the III.(germ.)SS-Pz.Korps - he died 9.8.44 in an hospital in Latvija.

Something springs to my mind but I am not at home and cannot check this hypothesis : and if Barth was just a phonetic transcription of Garthe ?

Of course, I think of Herbert Garthe though he was an SS-Obersturmbannführer at that time. But maybe Rolf Michaelis was wrong concerning the exact rank. This was the end of the war and officers were taken out of the SS-Führerreserve to assume commands which did not always correspond to their effective ranks.
